Tomorrow I have a birthday party. I was in the mood for a Black Forest cake but I did not have time to make one. Instead I decided to make a Black Forest tart. All the same flavors, just in a different form! To make sure my idea would work, I made a mini one first. No way will I ever show up to a birthday party without first tasting a cake to make sure it works.
Earlier today I went to do a smog inspection for my car. And it was oh so conveniently located to one of the few remaining independent fabric stores, so of course I had to pay a visit. I have been craving a nice pair of summer pajamas. I’ve had Lisette Butterick B6296 on my mind for a while, but didn’t have any fabric for it.
I still have a lot of activewear tops and leggings cut out to be sewn, but once I’m done with that these pajamas are next in the queue! Do visit Fabric Land in Orange, CA if you’re ever in the area. I feel very fortunate to have more than just Joanns in my area, so although online shopping is tempting I like to make occasional purchases here to support them. Oh – that’s what the black elastic is for, some current activewear tops.
Back to tart talk! It is a layered combination of Pierre Herme’s sweet tart tough + sour cherry jam + roasted cherries + dark chocolate ganache + whipped cream + fresh cherries. I meant to taste test 1/4 of my sample but ended up eating 3/4 of it. Too good!
